The Solid Waste & Recycling Committee researches solid waste management options for the Select Board. It also provides residents with low-cost compost bins and composting education. The committee compiles data on solid waste disposal and recycling in Whitefield for submittal to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Additionally, the committee is preparing the Town for reimbursements under the State’s new Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging law.
The Committee usually meets the First Thursday of every other month at 5:00 pm at the Central Fire Station, 24 Townhouse Road.
See the Whitefield Recycling Center page for more information on recycling, composting, and solid waste disposal.
